
Internships
Each semester the Orange County Sheriff’s Office Internship Program will give interested students a positive learning environment, where college students can experience the various day-to-day operations of the Sheriffâs Office. As an OCSO Intern you will have the opportunity to work in one or all of the agency’s divisions. Work is generally performed in a standard office setting. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Work environments may differ depending on assignment.
Students wishing to participate in the Sheriffâs Office Internship Program will be required to submit the following:
- Official documentation from the college or university detailing the institutionâs policy on participating in an internship program
- A letter of recommendation from college or university intern advisor, coordinator or professor
- 1,000 word essay as to âHow an internship with OCSO will better prepare them for their chosen careerâ
- Official transcripts from the college or university
- A copy of their resume
- Students will also undergo a background investigation.
Internship FAQ
DO INTERNS GET PAID?
Yes, all internships are paid with no benefits.
HOW LONG WILL THE INTERNSHIP LAST?
Internships will last no more than 12 weeks.
HOW MANY TIMES CAN SOMEONE INTERN WITH OCSO?
Students will only be permitted to attend one semester.
HOW MANY HOURS A WEEK WILL AN INTERN WORK?
Intern hours are dependent on the requirements of each unit.
WHEN WILL THE INTERNSHIPS START?
Internships will be held each semester.
ARE THERE APPLICATION DEADLINES?
Applications are processed on a rolling basis.
DO I NEED TO ATTEND A COLLEGE OR UNIVERSITY TO PARTICIPATE IN THE INTERNSHIP?
Yes, you must be enrolled and in good standing with an accredited college or university.
