Court Services and Communications Division

Court Security Section

The Court Security Section is assigned the broad task of ensuring the security of all courtroom proceedings in Orange County, as well as the safety of all employees, court staff, and citizens who may enter any of the several court facilities throughout Orange County during the hours of court operations. Orange County is one half of the Ninth Judicial Circuit with a current combined assignment of sixty-five (65) judges, magistrates, and hearing officers. There is also a budgeted number of visiting and senior judges with almost 500 regularly scheduled workdays and foreclosure hearing days each year. The Court Security Section also assists members of the Orange County Facilities Management, the Office of the State Attorney, the Office of the Public Defender, the Office of the Clerk of the Court, the Florida Supreme Court, the Judiciary, the State Court Administrator, and Orange County Court Administration, with special activities which take place throughout Orange County.

Judicial Process Section

The Judicial Process Section of the Orange County Sheriff’s Office interacts directly with the public of Orange County for the purpose of serving various civil and enforceable papers. The civil papers are served by the civilian Civil Process Officers and the enforceable papers are served by the Enforceable Writs deputy sheriffs. Both are supported by the Witness Management squad, the Injunction squad, and the Judicial Process squad as well as the Sales Coordinator. The constant interaction with the public allows the Judicial Process Section to provide excellent service of civil processes and court orders which can be confusing and time sensitive. The Judicial Process Section is committed to assisting the public through the use of technology, courtesy, and diligence.

Employee Services Section

Criminal Process Section is statutorily required to maintain records and serve criminal warrants ordered by the court. The section consists of both sworn and civilian personnel, to include sworn personnel who are assigned to the Fugitive and Extraditions Unit, and the civilian personnel who are assigned to the Warrants, Enforceable Writs and Transportation.

The Criminal Process Warrants Unit is required to operate 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days of the year to confirm active Orange County warrants which include felony, misdemeanor, traffic and juvenile cases for local and out of state Law Enforcement agencies across the country. The Warrants Unit is responsible for the immediate response to inquiries from Law Enforcement agencies for wanted individuals from Orange County.

Communications Section

The Orange County Sheriff's Office Communications Section operates one of the busiest 911 centers in the southeast United States. This Section represents the largest contingent of civilian employees in the Orange County Sheriff's Office. The majority of personnel are 911 Operators, Dispatchers and Teletype Operators. Personnel assigned to our training, technical, administration and False Alarm Reduction Unit (FARU) are equally important to our success.

We became the first agency in the nation to implement the RapidSOS Portal; a system that allows personnel to simultaneously track the fifty most recent 911 calls made in Orange County utilizing device-based hybrid location technology. We also trained personnel to operate Starchase, a new solution that allows law enforcement to safely track stolen vehicles without engaging in pursuits.
