Marriage Licenses
The first step in applying for a marriage license is to complete a Marriage License Application. You can do this in one of two ways:
- Save time and apply online using our eMarriage Application. Once you complete the online application, you will receive a confirmation notice containing information about completing the application process.
- Print the Marriage License Application and bring it to the Orange County Courthouse to complete the process.
Please note that for both methods indicated above, the 3-day waiting period does not begin until after the couple comes together to the Clerkâs office and purchases the marriage license in person. Before coming to the Clerkâs Office in person, please review all marriage license requirements and our FAQs.

Name Change
RequirementsÂ
Before a name change hearing can be set, the petitioner must have fingerprints taken electronically by an authorized agency.
The fingerprints are then submitted to the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) for criminal history records checks. The results are sent to the Clerkâs Office by FDLE. Â
A background check is not required for petitions to restore a former name or for changes of name in proceedings for divorce or adoption of children.
If the name change request is on behalf of a minor, consent may be required from the parent not filing the request. Note that if the name change is for a minor, the fingerprints of the adult petitioner must be taken and submitted, not the minorâs.
